2011 Grand Cruise Plans!
I have a whole lot to do between now and then, but I am planning my most adventuresome sail ever for this summer. Here's the itinerary (dates are mostly approximations):
Leg 1 - Urbanna Creek Yacht Club shakedown cruise from Urbanna to Deltaville [May 14-16]
Leg 2 - Deltaville to Kingsmill/Williamsburg [May 16-18]
Leg 3 - Kingsmill to Manteo [May 19-27]
Leg 4 - Day sailing out of Manteo while I'm staying in Duck [May 27 - June 10]
Leg 5 - Manteo to points south & back (Ocracoke, Oriental, Beaufort, +?) [June 10-24]
Leg 6 - Day sailing out of Manteo while I'm staying in Duck [June 24 - July 8]
Leg 7 - Manteo back to Urbanna [July 8-17]
I was lucky enough to get my beach house scheduled for two weeks on, two weeks off, and two weeks on, so I'm going to be spending nine weeks living either on the boat or at the beach. I still have to pinch myself occasionally to make sure this is actually real!
OK, it's down on paper and officially "blogged"! Now I've got to get all the prep work done to make it happen!

March 15, 2011
Well, it's been just over eight months since my last post! I had a rather hectic 2010 which didn't leave a whole lot of time for blogging, but I'll do a bit of catching up here and see if I can get current in time for my first sail of the new season!
After my trip to Tangier, I didn't really do much but day sail. There's nothing wrong with that, but that trip was the most adventuresome of 2010. I did, however, manage to get in several great day sails, including a nice trip up the Corrotomon River where I actually saw a dolphin/porpoise! (It must be some kind of Murphy's Law that the more spectacular the picture the farther away your camera is!) I took about 10 trips to the boat, but about half of those didn't involve any actual sailing. I worked on the boat a couple of times and once decided to not go out because of 30 knot wind gusts on the river!

A pretty sunset returning to Urbanna in October
Sunset at huge high tide in November.
(Where's the dock?)
This was not my most active sailing year, but I have grand plans for 2011 which I'll get to in a later post.
